This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available March 25 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
3-16 Police were needed at a convenience store at the corner of Front Street and Bailey Road where a manager reported a suspect entered the “Beer Cave” in the back of the store and grabbed a 12pk of Heineken. The suspect then walked out of the “Beer Cave” and dropped the beer, breaking the bottles within the case. While the manager turned her back on the suspect, he then ran behind the counter and grabbed 4 cartons of Newports. The manager was able to retrieve the cartons from the suspect prior to the suspect fleeing the scene with an unknown driver in a blue SUV with a dealer license plate. The receipt provided to officers totaled $463.39. The store stated that they wish to prosecute.
3-19 A home improvement store in the 100 block of Graham Road reported to police an unknown suspect entered the store, loaded a Generac Inverter Generator in a shopping cart, and left the store without paying. The generator is valued at $779. There are leads but no suspects. The store stated that they will prosecute.
3-21 The owner of a game store in the 1700 block of State Road reported to police that a known male made approximately 27 false transactions and used store credit to purchase merchandise. The manager stated the known male took the merchandise and sold it to other stores. The total amount of stolen merchandise is $2,837.64. They do wish to prosecute and there are leads.
3-22 An anonymous caller contacted 911 to report a vehicle operating in a reckless manner. Officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on State Road near Bath Road.. During the interaction with the driver, officers observed indicators consistent with impairment. The driver consented to field sobriety tests and was subsequently placed under arrest for OVI. While officers attempted to place the driver in handcuffs, he repeatedly pulled away and resisted their efforts. After being secured in handcuffs the driver continued to pull away from officers during a search incident to arrest. The driver did push into officers causing all parties to fall onto the ground. While attempting to get the driver into the cruiser, he began to kick, kicking an officer multiple times in the knees and attempting to kick another in the chest. The driver was cleared at Akron City hospital and transported to Summit County Jail.
3-23 Police performed a traffic stop on a gray sedan travelling north on State Road near Northaven Boulevard that was operating on the roadway without any taillights after dark. Police spoke with the driver, a 20-year-old Akron man. During the investigation the driver stated that there was marijuana in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle found two glass containers of raw loose marijuana in the driver’s backpack. Being under the age of 21 at the time of the traffic stop the driver was cited for marijuana possession. The marijuana was seized and tagged into evidence.
3-23 A 78-year-old Stow man reported to police that he enlisted in a known suspect’s repair company and gave them his John Deere mower to repair. The victim has paid $500 and owes the suspect another $600 if the repairs are finished. The known suspect has had the lawn mower since December and is no longer in contact with the victim. The victim last saw the suspect about three weeks ago at the suspect’s residence, but the suspect refused to speak with him. The mower is worth $1,200. The victim states he is willing to sign charges.
3-23 A Linwood Drive resident reported to police that an unknown suspect came into his backyard and cut the solar panel charger attached to his fence and stole a bird feeder equipped with a built-in camera without his consent. Total value of loss is $150.00. The victim stated that he does wish to prosecute. There are no leads at this time.
