This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available March 11 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
2-28 Police responded to a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue for a shoplifting. CFPD met with asset protection who reported an unknown male came into the store and attempted to steal $256 worth of merchandise. The male made it past all points of sale with the items in his cart, but was intercepted by asset protection, allowing them to keep the goods. The male then fled from asset protection. Prosecution is desired.
3-1 A membership store in the 1100 block of Buchholzer Boulevard reported to police that a male had left past the point of sale with unpaid merchandise. When contacted the male admitted to stealing a movie projector valued at $99. The store was interested in pursuing charges. The suspect was arrested, booked and released on a PR bond.
3-2 A home improvement store in the 100 block of Graham Road reports that an unknown male stole a butane lighter from the store without paying for the item. The lighter is valued at $5.99.
3-5 A 2021 silver Toyota was stopped for driving the wrong way on Broad Boulevard. The driver was found to be impaired, suspended and had a warrant for her arrest. The driver was arrested for OVI and transported to the station where she refused any chemical tests. She was released on a PR bond and handed over to Summit County for her outstanding warrant.
3-5 Police conducted a traffic stop on a gray Buick Lacrosse. Both occupants did not have their seat belts on. While asking for information in regard to the stop the passenger showed multiple nervous movements and criminal indicators. A K-9 was called to the stop for an open-air sniff; the dog gave a positive alert on the vehicle, and a probable cause search was conducted. Officers located a small plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance in the passenger’s coat. Officers also located a folded-up lottery ticket with a loose crystal-like substance inside, as well as a hollowed-out pen used to consume narcotics. Under Miranda Warning the passenger admitted to the drugs being methamphetamine. The passenger also admitted the pen was used to consume the narcotics. A methamphetamine field test was conducted on some of the crystal-like substance, which gave a positive result. The passenger was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Possession of Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Seat Belts Required.
3-8 A 28-year-old Akron man went into a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street and took a Red Bull, Gushers and multiple bags of chips, all worth $12.66, and walked past the point of sale without paying. The suspect was located and later found to be in possession of .5 grams of a crystal-like substance and four used hypodermic needles. The stolen items were returned to the store and the suspect was trespassed from the store.
3-7 A 66-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reports that he wire transferred $55,000 to a car dealer in Des Moines IA. This was for an agreed sale of a 2021 GMC Sierra 3500HD. The purchase agreement took place on 3/2/26. The business allegedly has a delivery employee who is supposed to deliver the vehicle. After a few days, the dealership seized all contact with the victim and has not delivered the vehicle. The victim has filed a report with his bank. The victim is willing to prosecute.
3-8 A 68-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reported to police that an unknown suspect used deceptive tactics over the phone to steal $43,000 from him. The unknown suspect had the victim go to a Fifth Third bank and wire transfer the money to another account. The victim is willing to prosecute.
3-11 Police conducted a traffic stop on a blue Honda Civic for an equipment violation. Contact was made with the driver who was 19 years old. A strong odor of burnt marijuana was emanating from the vehicle. Based on the odor, a probable cause search was conducted. Police located rolling papers commonly used to smoke marijuana and two empty bags that had previously contained cannabis The driver admitted to smoking marijuana prior to driving. He was put through SFST and ARIDE. Based on the tests, he was determined to be sober enough to operate a vehicle. The driver was charged with Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia and Tinted windows. He was released on scene with a court date.
