City Council News & Politics

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

Council began with an organizational meeting where all newly elected council members and the mayor were sworn in to their new terms. Many members of the community packed City Council chambers or the first City Council meeting of the year.

Public & Industrial Improvements:

B-122: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the Highpoint Road Sanitary Sewer Extension. Per city engineer Tony Demasi, since the subdivision was built in the 1950s, several homes shared sewer laterals and between three homes this has been a problem for a while. The city received nine bids for the project and the lowest and best came from Campbell Construction at $81k. The project will take approximately a month to complete. The public and industrial improvements committee voted to bring this out for a full vote next Monday at the regular council meeting

Public Affairs:

B-123: An ordinance amending the Traffic Control File. This will add the new traffic patterns and traffic control devices to the city’s master file in several areas around the city.  When the traffic committee met November 24,, they approved three major signalization projects within the city that now need to come before city council for final approval. The first part of the legislation adds school zones and No Turn on Red signs in the area near the new high school and removes traffic control devices around Roberts, Bolich, and the old high school. The second part of the ordinance makes the new traffic signals and signage in the area of Wyoga Lake/ Seasons Road/State Road area (commonly referred to as the Triangle during the development of this area). The Third area is the addition of school zone lights and signage for the Islamic Education center on Steels Corners Road. The public affairs committee voted to bring this out for a full vote next Monday at the regular council meeting.
