This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available December 3 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

11-22  A grocery store in the 2200 block of State Road reported to police a male was sleeping in the lobby of the store causing a concern to customers. The male was identified and found to have been trespassed from this store on September 20. The manager signed a complaint for trespass and individual was released.

11-24  Police made a traffic stop on Broad Boulevard near 21st Street for improper display of plates. While speaking with the driver, officers discovered that she had a suspended driver license and noticed an open container of alcohol in the center console. The driver gave consent to search the vehicle which resulted in finding two open bottles of alcohol. The driver performed field sobriety tests and did not appear to be intoxicated. The driver was cited for Driving Under Suspension and issued a Summons for Open Container in a Motor Vehicle. The driver’s friend had a  valid license and drove the vehicle home.

11-25  A 20th Street resident reported to police that his Home Depot Veteran account had multiple transactions not authorized by him. The victim gets a discount through the account linked to $400 a year. There were transactions on November 2 and November 17 at store #3830 in Akron, and another at store #3818 in Cleveland Heights on November 24. The victim stated the stores are supposed to verify ID when the account information is used. The victim will prosecute. There are leads and no suspects.

11-25  A CFPD officer made a traffic stop on a white Ford Escape on Chestnut Boulevard near 19th Street for improper display of plates. While trying to obtain driver information, the passenger was identified. Shortly after identifying the driver and passenger, the driver put the vehicle into drive, with intention to flee the traffic stop, running a stop sign. The pursuit was terminated after visual was lost.

11-25  Police were dispatched to a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue for report of theft. Officers spoke to loss prevention who stated the suspect concealed (2) JLAB Speakers for a total of $54.98 and walked past the final point of sale without paying. The items were recovered and the suspect  was charged / trespassed.

11-26  On November 21 a known female trespassed on the property of the women’s clinic in the 2100 block of State Road. The female stepped on the property and placed a box of items on the vehicle of a doctor at the clinic. She was seen on security camera briefly. The officer spoke with the female who stated she has previously been asked to stay off the property but believed she was on the neighboring property when dropping the items. The owner of the business stated he would prosecute. He was referred to the prosecutor.

11-30  CFPD states a suspect did knowingly operate a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. As CFPD made contact with the suspect during a traffic stop on Front Street near Bailey Road  he refused to open his car door, turn his car off, or roll the window down. The suspect then fled from officers as CFPD attempted to gain access to his vehicle. The suspect was eventually stopped, after which he refused to exit the vehicle and actively pulled away from officers when CFPD attempted to remove him. The suspect continuously tried to put the vehicle in drive while hitting the accelerator in an attempt to flee from and resist officers once again. The suspect  was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. Inside the vehicle, 39.5g marijuana in three separate bags were found, along with 76 distribution bags, a digital scale, and a notebook with apparent prices for narcotic distribution. In addition, an open bottle of Western Reserve Tequila was found near the driver’s seat. The suspect was booked at CFPD and did provide a breath sample (0.135g/210L), later released on a PR bond.

11-28  CFPD conducted a traffic stop on Munroe Falls Avenue near Russell Street after it was observed driving on the wrong side of the road. The driver showed signs of drug impairment and submitted to field sobriety tests which indicated impairment. She was transported to Western Reserve Hospital for blood draw. A search of her belongings found a bindle containing suspected fentanyl. During booking the suspect began to nod off and was taken back to Western Reserve by CFFD for evaluation. She was issued her citation at the hospital, and the bindle was submitted for testing.

11-28  Officers initiated a traffic stop at Howe Avenue at Route 8 on a 2007 Jeep bearing fictitious Ohio license plates.  Officers made contact with the known male driver and passenger. The driver exited the vehicle and handed officers two plastic baggies containing crack cocaine. The male states the passenger  passed him the narcotics as he was being pulled over. After an extended period of time, the male confessed the narcotics were his under Miranda. The narcotics were sent to BCI to be tested, and no charges were given to either individual pending BCI results.

11-26  Officers initiated a traffic stop on a 2011 Mercedes-Benz in the 300 block of Howe Avenue for a traffic violation. The driver had a suspended license and an open bottle of Lunazul tequila within arm’s reach in the vehicle. Officers cited the driver  with both those offenses.

11-27  Officers stopped a driver for running a red light at Steels Corners and State Road. Officers were concerned he was under the influence of alcohol due to his physical appearance and odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The driver stated he had two drinks and was coming home from the valley. The driver was unable to follow simple instructions when asked by officers. Officers had the driver exit the vehicle to perform field sobriety tests, after which was placed under arrest for OVI. The driver was transported to CFPD for booking where he refused to provide a breath sample. Officers discovered that the driver had three prior convictions for OVI in the last nine years. He was booked and released on a PR bond.

12-1  A Maplewood Street resident  reported a known male took an orange 1970s-style fireplace, valued at $1,800, from her basement without her consent. The known male admitted to using a U-Haul to get the fireplace and transported it to storage. The victim stated if the fireplace is returned, she will not sign charges. The known male stated he will return the fireplace by the end of day Tuesday, December 2.

12-2  A traffic stop was conducted on a Jeep Grand Cherokee on State Road just inside Akron because it was shown as a stolen vehicle through Akron PD. The driver admitted to police she had taken the license plate off of an alleged abandoned vehicle and secured it on her Jeep, due to her registration block. The license plate was confirmed stolen and the suspect arrested for receiving stolen property. She was taken to CFPD where she was booked and released after receiving a charge for receiving stolen property and citation for displaying a fictitious plate.
