This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available November 5 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
10-11 Police responded to a theft call in the 3400 block of Hunter Parkway where a 21-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reported his 2018 Alfa Romero was broken into overnight in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The victim states two bags were taken containing clothing, an iPad mini, wallet, and other misc. items. At this time, it is estimated the total value is around $1,500.
10-17 An intoxicated 40-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man in the 900 block of Curtis Avenue attracted police attention while rummaging through trash cans. The suspect did refuse to give any identifying information to officers during the course of the investigation. The suspect also did kick and spit at officers during the course of his arrest and refused to get inside of a police cruiser. When the suspect was being transported in an elevator at Cuyahoga Falls jail, he kicked officers and spit in the face of an officer. The suspect was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Failure to Identify, Resisting Arrest, Harassment by inmate, Obstructing Official Business and held in Cuyahoga Falls Jail.
10-28 Police responded to a home improvement store in the 300 block of Howe Avenue for a theft report. The manager of the store reported that her employee did knowingly consume $280 worth of drinks, candy, and chips while on her shift since July 1. The employee admitted to taking the merchandise and charges were signed by the manager. The employee was issued a summons and left the scene without incident.
10-30 Police responded to the 1300 block of Bailey Road where a 40-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reported a theft from his vehicle. The victim reports his Glock 19 and wallet were stolen overnight from his vehicle, a black Chevy Tahoe. The wallet contained his ID, a debit card, 4 -5 credit cards, and $155 in cash. The vehicle was parked in the lot on the north side of Bailey Road near the entrance. There was no sign of forced entry. The victim stated the vehicle was locked. The items were last seen in the center console of the vehicle on October 29. They were noticed missing during October 30. The victim stated he has both copies of the keys to the vehicle and no one else has access. The victim will prosecute. There are no leads or suspects at this time. The firearm was entered into LEADS.
11-1 Police investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in the grass in the 2700 block of Valley Road. Contact was made with the registered owner of the vehicle, who was passed out at the wheel, had the odor of alcohol emanating from his person, had slurred speech, and could not provide officers with how he ended up at the location. The suspect refused sobriety testing and was arrested for physical control while under the influence. The suspect was then released to his mother.
11-2 During a traffic stop on Route 8 South near Front Street police discovered the 20-year-old driver did knowingly possess a usable amount of marijuana while under the age of 21, to wit: the suspect admitted to possessing 6.7g of marijuana in her purse while on a traffic stop. The suspect was issued a citation and released from the scene.
11-2 Cuyahoga Falls police conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 block of State Road. Police discovered that the driver was operating a motor vehicle while under suspension. During the course of the investigation it was found that the driver did shoplift merchandise from a convenience store located in the 2800 block of State Road. The driver admitted to passing all points of sale and leaving the property with ten bottles of fireball liquor and forty-three snickers bars totaling $283.18. The driver also admitted to having in his possession a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine. They were charged with M1 shoplifting and M4 possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of M1 driving under suspension. The driver was summonsed, cited and released from the scene.
11-2 While serving an arrest warrant in the 1000 block of Bailey Road officers report the suspect knowingly impeded the duties of officers on scene. The suspect hid under clothes in a closet for approximately 20 minutes to avoid being arrested on his warrants, then when found, tensed up, pulled away, began reaching into the area of his waist band and attempted to flee when being placed under arrest. He was charged with Obstructing Official Business and Resisting. The suspect was transported to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and taken into custody for Possession of Fentanyl warrant.
11-2 During a traffic stop on Route 8 South near Front Street, Cuyahoga Falls Police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle a 42-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was operating due to excessive speed. The suspect knowingly provided false identifying information to officers. The suspect disobeyed multiple lawful orders and when placed under arrest refused to get in a marked patrol car. The suspect had to be physically assisted into the vehicle and was purposely delaying and hindering officers in their official duties. They were driving while under the influence of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his person, and violent mood swings. The suspect refused to perform sobriety tests and provide a breath sample. Police also learned that the suspect was operating a motor vehicle under OVI suspension and had three prior OVI’s in the last 20 years. The person was charged with felony OVI, obstructing official business, and failure to identify personal information to Officers, and miscellaneous traffic, signed a PR bond and was released to a sober third party.
11-3 Police responded to a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street where a manager reported that an unknown female did come into the store and cause inconvenience, annoyance and alarm by yelling, cursing and using derogatory terms at staff because she was not refunded for an order that occurred on another day. The suspect was gone prior to police arrival.
