This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available September 24 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
9-17 Police met with loss prevention at a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue who reported that they had a suspect seen concealing two mens’ razors in his pants and walking past the point of sales without paying for the items. The total amount of the items was $96.05. The suspect was field summoned for theft and given a court date at Stow Municipal Court.
9-17 Police observed a gentleman asleep in his vehicle in the 400 block of Howe Avenue. The suspect was given a field sobriety test and completed it with no issues. While speaking to officers, the suspect stated he had drug paraphernalia and drugs in the vehicle. Officers located a plastic bag of white powder and burnt foil in the driver side door and the burnt plastic pipe with residue in the center console. The plastic bag was sent to BCI, and charges are pending per results.
9-18 An Akron woman reported to police that an unknown male was in her car when she left a State Road grocery store . The victim reports that the only thing she is missing is approximately $100 that she had up on the sun visor. The suspect was described as a white male in his 30s that had short brown hair. There is a lead. The victim does want to prosecute.
9-18 A 78-year-old Sackett Avenue woman reported to police that an unknown party deposited a $960 rent check that was intended for her landlord into an unknown bank account without her consent. Total value of loss is $960.00. The victim wishes to prosecute. There are leads.
9-19 Officers responded to an accident at School Avenue /High Street. Officers identified the driver, found recording of the accident and saw that the driver was at fault for the crash. Officers observed indicators of impairment and found cocaine and Methamphetamine on her person and in her car. Officers placed the driver through field sobriety tests and arrested her for OVI, and possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver was processed at the police department and gave a breath sample, which determined her BAC to be .179. The driver was released on a PR bond to a sober party.
9-19 Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated individual driving on Myrtle Avenue who had pulled into a driveway in the 1700 block. Upon arrival, they observed a running vehicle with a male slumped over in the driver’s seat. The passenger side window was broken to gain entry. After waking the suspect, officers detected the odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. The suspect admitted to consuming alcohol at a local establishment and stated that he had driven home from that location. The suspect was given field sobriety tests and subsequently placed under arrest for OVI. The suspect was booked and later released on a PR bond to a sober individual.
9-19 A 26-year-old Cuyahoga Falls Man was stopped for squealing tires. The suspect admitted to consuming alcohol prior to operating a motor vehicle, had an odor of alcohol emanating from his person, and bloodshot eyes. The suspect voluntarily performed sobriety testing and was arrested for OVI. The suspect provided a breath sample of .083 BAC. A handgun was located in the center console with a round in the chamber and two full magazines. The suspect was charged with OVI, squealing tires, weapons while intoxicated, and improperly handling of firearms in a motor vehicle. The suspect was released to a sober party.
9-19 Officers responded to a call for an unresponsive man lying on the sidewalk in the 1700 block of Myrtle Avenue. The man was identified as receiving an OVI earlier in the day, still showing signs of impairment that included slurred speech, inability to provide officers with his phone number, and an odor of alcoholic beverage. EMS treated and released the man on scene. The man was cited for disorderly conduct and transported to Detox.
9-20 Officers arrived on scene to a stopped public transit bus on Portage Trail near Cook Street where two males were alleged to be fighting. An unknown male reports that he asked another rider to quiet down on the bus. The suspect then threatened him with a knife and was yelling profanities. Several eyewitnesses corroborated these events. The victim was uncooperative, did not want to identify, and did not want to prosecute. The suspect was charged with Disorderly Conduct and removed from the bus.
9-20 A 53-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman reported to police that while at the Buck Naked Band concert on Front Street an unknown white male and female started cussing at her for filming them. During the altercation, the male told her that she was “lucky that she is a female” and the known female proceeded to pour her beer onto the victim. Both parties eventually separated, and the victim did not sustain any injuries.
