This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available August 20 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
8-13 A seafood restaurant in the 700 block of Howe Avenue advised police that a known male subject purchased and consumed food from the restaurant but did not render payment. Officers arrived on scene and contacted the male suspect who advised that he did not have his wallet on him at the time of payment for his meal. Officers spoke to staff who advised that his bill was $40.92. When asked if the business wished to pursue criminal charges in regard to the incident, they stated that they did not wish to prosecute at this time.
8-13 Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of State Road for a report of an intoxicated person. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the employee who stated a male entered the store, purchased beer and returned to his vehicle. The male then returned to the store and had trouble opening the door and walking. Officers located the male in his running vehicle with a beer in between his legs. Officers observed an open bottle of tequila and beer inside the vehicle along with glossy/blood shot eyes, slurred speech. Officers conducted field sobriety tests and ultimately arrested the man for physical control. The man blew a .247 BAC.
8-13 Police conducted a traffic stop on Bailey Road at Orlen Avenue. Police spoke with the driver and found that he had multiple open suspensions. The driver was cited and released for driving under suspension. Officers conducted an inventory of the vehicle for tow and located a glass pipe with burnt/white residue. Inside the pipe was approximately 0.5 grams of a hard, brown, crystal-like substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. The registered owner and a valid driver arrived on scene, paid the tow drop fee, and took possession of the vehicle. The Illegal items found and seized from the vehicle were submitted to BCI for testing.
8-14 An Issaqah Avenue resident reported to police that while running near the Richmond/Issaquah area, he was chased by a dog. He stated that the dog was growling and barking as it ran toward him. Upon arrival, officers observed the dog running loose in public without a leash and with no owner in sight. Officers were able to locate the dog’s owner who had previously been warned regarding a dog-at-large. The owner was issued a citation for Dog at Large.
8-14 A discount club in the 100 block of Buchholzer Boulevard contacted police after an unknown female stole twelve costumes and one container of ice cream from the store totaling $515.76. The store manager provided officers with video surveillance of the incident, and he also stated that he would like to prosecute in the matter. There are leads at this time.
8-15 Police took a report from an 80-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman who reported that she got an email from Best Buy from a fraudulent email address. The woman reported that she took $1,500 of her personal money to purchase Apple gift cards and gave the suspect the card information. The woman wishes to prosecute and there are no leads
8-16 Police took a theft report in the 700 block of Silver Lake Avenue. Officers contacted the victim who stated that when she got home from work, she believes her back door was partially opened. The woman stated that she was also missing pieces of Tupperware that she saw earlier that morning before work. Officers advised the victim to make sure all doors are completely closed and locked before leaving and gave her a report number.
8-16 The manager of a State Road carwash reported that a female was approaching vehicles, asking if she could go through the carwash. The manager stated that the woman then sat in a chair and threw a glass picture frame, which she owned, on the ground, shattering it. The manager of a nearby thrift store reported that the woman may have stolen a blanket, although he was uncertain whether she entered the store with the item. The thrift store declined to pursue charges. The woman was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and was trespassed from both the thrift store and carwash. The woman was released into the custody of a friend.
8-16 A Seventh Street resident told police that he was riding his electric scooter when an unknown male in a black SUV followed him off the roadway, exited his vehicle, and punched the man in the face. The victim stated he did not know the male who struck him. The victim stated he did not need EMS but sustained a minor head bruise. A witness stated that she saw the victim get punched in the face by a white male in his 30-40s. No other information about the suspect was provided by the witness or victim who is willing to prosecute.
8-17 Police took a report from a woman in the 2800 block of State Road who reported an unknown suspect broke into her car around 11:00 pm on August 16. The woman reported the suspect took her passport and work badge. There were no damages to the vehicle. The victim reports that she left her door unlocked during the night and she does want to press charges and there are no leads.
8-17 During a traffic stop on a 31-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman, police suspected the driver of being intoxicated. The driver did admit to having multiple shots of Tito’s vodka and Cut-Water margarita drinks. The driver also admitted to operating the vehicle after said alcohol consumption with her children in the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and booked at CFPD. It was discovered that the driver does have a prior OVI (11/28/22) and did refuse to give a breath sample. The driver was later released to a sober third party on a PR bond. Children’s Services was notified.
8-17 Police responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries in the 100 block of Graham Road. Upon contacting one of the drivers, officers detected the odor of alcohol, observed slurred speech, and noted that his eyes appeared glossy. The driver admitted to consuming 2-3 White Claws. After being evaluated and cleared by paramedics the driver consented to perform field sobriety tests. Based on the results the driver was subsequently placed under arrest for OVI. At the station the driver provided a breath sample, which yielded a result of 0.189 BAC. He was processed and released to a sober party on a PR bond.
8-17 A Cuyahoga Falls resident had their Chrysler Pacifica stolen overnight. Akron PD responded to a report of a hit-skip accident, and located the vehicle abandoned. APD contacted the victim, and they advised he had no knowledge of the vehicle being taken. The keys were left inside the vehicle. Per Akron PD two males could be seen exiting the vehicle after crashing. Akron PD towed the vehicle, and the victim was advised of its location. It was not entered into LEAD’s as a stolen vehicle since it had already been recovered. The victim will prosecute.
8-19 A UPS driver reports a loud, high-decibel device in the front yard of a home in the 1600 block 19th Street. The device was placed to deter wildlife; however, the devices were producing high-frequency sounds that could be heard from the sidewalk, causing the driver to develop a headache. Police also heard the sounds from the street and sidewalk before making contact with the homeowner. The device was turned off, removed, or adjusted without incident. The driver declines prosecution.
