This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available June 18 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
6-8 Police responded to the 1100 block of Highland Avenue for a loud party. Officers could hear music coming from the backyard of approximately one house away from the call location. A known female reported that they were celebrating her granddaughter’s first birthday and were having a party. Officers advised the female to please keep the music down so it would not bother other neighbors and gave her a warning for disorderly conduct.
6-9 Police took a report in the 100 block of East Steels Corners Road after the victim reported that he parked his 1995 Mercedes-Benz in the parking space he and his father rent for their semi truck and trailer on the property. The vehicle is disabled due to battery issues and has been sitting for a year and a half. The victim last saw the vehicle about 15 days prior on this day the vehicle was missing. The victim has the bill of sales and South Carolina registration for the vehicle but never received the title from the previous owner in California and has never registered the vehicle. The victim will sign charges and there are leads. Vehicle was bought for $1,500.00 and was entered into LEADS as stolen.
6-10 Police responded to the 2100 block of Schubert Street where contact was made with the suspect after he was reported by a passerby to have been chasing vehicles and was then observed passed out in a devil strip. The suspect was found to be highly intoxicated. Cuyahoga Falls Fire responded and the suspect refused treatment. The suspect was then transported to Akron City Hospital and civilly committed. He was issued a citation for disorderly conduct intox.
6-10 A resident in the 2800 block of Beacon Hill Circle reported that an unknown person(s) did enter his unlocked Toyota SUV parked in front of his apartment and stole four bank cards from his wallet– three Chase credit cards, and one Capital one debit card. The victim states that the suspects then tried charging $406.84 to one of the cards at a Walmart in Akron, but that the charge did not go through. The victim states he will prosecute.
6-10 Police took a report in the 100 block of East Steels Corners Road that a known suspect entered a locked vehicle parked in the employee lot at that business and stole the owner’s US Bank credit card. Multiple transactions were made with the stolen card at local businesses totaling $1,026.26. The suspect is believed to be a coworker who removed the victim’s key fob from the office and then replaced it after stealing the credit card. The victim wishes to pursue criminal charges.
6-11 Police responded to the 2800 block of State Road where the manager at a fast-food restaurant reported a male got out of a vehicle and urinated in the parking lot. Police made contact with the suspect who admitted to urinating in the parking lot. The suspect was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct
6-14 During a traffic stop on West Portage Trail and Valley Road the driver was identified and stated to officers he was not carrying any firearms after being asked. Officers also detected the odor of freshly burnt marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle and saw a marijuana blunt that had already been lit in plain view. Officers located a loaded Smith & Wesson SD40 in the center glove compartment of the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and processed at the Cuyahoga Falls Jail. He was then released from the station on a PR bond. The vehicle was towed to B&B Towing.
6-14 An alert motorist contacted Cuyahoga Falls Police after observing the driver of a gold Toyota Prius driving all over the roadway, stopping in the middle of intersections, and “nodding off” behind the wheel. The motorist followed the vehicle from Route 8 North to a specific address. Police found the suspect in the driver seat of the parked vehicle. Based on the motorist’s written statement and other indicators, police performed field sobriety tests. The suspect was subsequently arrested for her 3rd O.V.l. (2 prior convictions in 10 years) and transported to Akron General North for chemical testing. The suspect was then transported to CFPD where she was given a traffic citation and a court date to appear at Stow Municipal Court and released to her boyfriend who was a sober party. A review of the suspect’s driving record shows at least 17 separate crashes since 2011. Also, the registered owner of the vehicle she was driving, having been warned in the past, was cited for wrongful entrustment.
6-14 Police responded to the 2800 block of Bailey Road where the manager of a convenience store reported that an unknown male came into the store and took a kiwi strawberry Minute Maid drink valued at $1.89 without permission. The manager stated the male fled on a bicycle towards Front Street. The violation was captured on store CCTV. The manager does wish to prosecute. There are no leads or suspects at this time.
6-14 Police were called to a coffee shop in the 2000 block of Portage Trail for a customer that was found to be in possession of open containers of alcohol, fireball shooters, while in the coffee shop. The shift manager reports the suspect possessed and consumed the fireball while inside the restaurant. The suspect admitted to the possession of alcohol and was cited for open container in public.
6-14 Police responded to a call in the 300 block of East Steels Corners Road and upon the officers’ arrival, they found a vehicle off the roadway parked in the grass, with a driver behind the wheel. The driver had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on or about his person, slurred speech, and was having difficulties balancing when he got out of the car. The driver stated he was going home from Blossom and admitted to having some drinks. He got worn out and ended up in the field to rest. The driver consented to perform Field Sobriety Tests. The driver was then placed under arrest for OVI. The suspect was brought back to the station, where he provided a breath sample of .154. The suspect had a sober ride come and pick him up from the station.
6-15 During a traffic stop on Route 8 South near Howe Avenue police found that suspect A did knowingly possess a usable amount of marijuana (5.3g), a controlled substance in Schedule 1, while under the age of 21. Suspect A was issued a minor misdemeanor citation and released on-scene. Police also stated that Suspect A did knowingly possess, with the purpose to use, marijuana drug paraphernalia, to wit: Suspect A possessed a pink “Hello Kitty” marijuana grinder with marijuana residue inside. Suspect A was issued a minor misdemeanor citation and released on-scene. During the same stop police state Suspect B willingly possessed a usable amount of marijuana (3.0g), a controlled substance in Schedule 1, while under the age of 21. Suspect B was issued a minor misdemeanor citation and released on-scene. Police also stated Suspect B did knowingly possess, with the purpose to use, marijuana drug paraphernalia, to wit: Suspect B possessed a gold-colored marijuana grinder with marijuana residue inside. Suspect B was issued a minor misdemeanor citation and released on-scene.
6-16 A convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street reports that an unknown white male stole one Coors light beer bottle valued at $1.69, and one sandwich valued at $4.99. The male secured the items from their respective refrigerated areas and walked out of the store without paying. Prosecution is desired.
