This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available January 15 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
1-7 A 26-year-old Akron man reported to police an unknown subject stole his 2010 Chevy Malibu from his place of work. The vehicle was locked and parked in a lot in the 700 block of Howe Avenue. This occurred between Jan 3-6. The vehicle is valued at $300. The victim does not wish to prosecute and therefore the vehicle will not be entered into Leads.The report number was provided.
1-7 Police responded to the 300 block of Tallmadge Road where two dogs were found loose. The owner was notified and came to collect the dogs at the police station. The owner states the dogs had gotten out of the fenced backyard in an unknown manner. The owner was warned for dogs at large.
1-8 An optician in the 2000 block of Portage Trail reports that a male pocketed a pair of glasses valued at $345 and walked out of the store. He got in a black Chevrolet with Ohio plates and left. There appeared to be another male in the car. The manager of the store stated they would prosecute. There are leads but no suspects.
1-9 After finding a 34-year-old Canton man unconscious behind the wheel on Riverview Road near Bath Road. After being awakened, the driver gave the reporting officer his identifying information; however, when the officer went back to their cruiser, the driver sped off. A pursuit ensued through a rural area with curves and hills. Speeds reached 70 MPH. The driver eventually stopped, was ordered out of his vehicle and taken into custody. He was charged with felony failure to comply with order or signal of police officer, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, Blood Alcohol Concentration and no operator’s license.
1-9 Police responded to a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street when an unknown male started yelling at a customer and his friend, accusing them of following his girlfriend into the store. The unknown male then grabbed the victim’s glasses from his face and left the store with the victim’s glasses. He does wish to prosecute for theft. The glasses were valued at approximately $500.
1-9 Police responded again to the same convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street, this time for theft in progress. The store manager observed the suspect enter the store and select three 12-packs of beer before walking out with the unpaid items. Officers arrived on scene as he was walking out and the suspect was apprehended. The beer was returned to the store. The suspect was issued summons for theft and turned over to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office due to an active warrant. Total lost and recovered; $59.75.
1-11 Police made a traffic stop on Northampton Road near Meredith Lane. The driver was discovered to be driving under a suspended license. Officers determined the vehicle was going to be towed and during the inventory, officers discovered two bags containing suspected psilocybin. The gross weight of both bags is 13g. The two bags were sent to BCI for further analysis, criminal charges are pending the results from BCI. The vehicle was towed to B&B towing.
1-11 Police responded to a theft report in the 1300 block of Buckingham Gate Boulevard where a resident reported an unknown suspect cut the lock off his detached garage and stole items from inside. The victim reports miscellaneous property was stolen totaling approximately $500. There are no leads or suspects, and the victim wishes to prosecute.
1-11 Police responded to a reported theft at a drugstore in the 600 block of Portage Trail . According to the store manager the suspect stole various beauty products by concealing the items in her bag and leaving the store without paying. The total value of items stolen is $58.23. All items were recovered by the drug store. The suspect was charged with theft and released with a summons and was also trespassed from the store.
1-12 Police made a traffic stop on Hayes Avenue. The suspect stopped his vehicle in a random driveway and exited the vehicle. The suspect was detained after not providing accurate information, and was also found to have a suspended driver’s license. Police found the suspect to be in possession of a 9mm handgun after stating there were no firearms in the vehicle. The suspect was arrested and charged with carrying concealed weapons, carrying concealed weapons (failure to disclose), improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, driving under suspension, and signals while changing course. The suspect was later released on his own recognizance.
1-12 Police made a traffic stop on Graham Road near Prange Drive. After the passengers of the vehicle identified themselves, theofficer requested the driver exit the vehicle, and he later consented to a search. The officer discovered a used hypodermic needle in the center console. When questioned, all occupants denied knowledge of the needle. The driver explained that he sometimes rents out the vehicle via an app. None of the individuals appeared to be drug users or had needle marks, or any criminal histories related to drug possession. The conclusion was they were unaware of the needle, which was disposed of. The passenger with a valid out-of-state driver’s license then took control of the vehicle. The officer was unable to contact the owner of the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
1-12 Police were called to the 2600 block of State Road for an intoxicated female who was refusing to leave the bar area after it closed. Police located the female, who was taken to detox and warned for disorderly conduct. The store manager did not wish to sign charges or trespass the female from the establishment. Cleared without further incident.
