This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available January 2 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
12-22 Police responded to a noise complaint on Sackett Avenue near Fourth Street where it was reported that a dog had been left outside for three hours, crying and barking. Police arrived at the address and observed a black dog in the backyard crying by the door. The known female was working at a convenience store across the street. She was warned about the barking dog ordinance, went home and secured the dog inside the home.
12-22 Police responded to a convenience store in the 2800 block of State Road where an unknown male came in and took three pie snacks priced at $2.59 each, totaling to $7.77, concealed them in his hoodie pocket then left the store without paying for the items. The store wishes for the unknown male to be trespassed from the premises. The male was described as older, wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.
12-23 Police responded to a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue for a theft complaint. Loss prevention reports that an unknown white male placed 14 cans of spray paint totaling $92.51 in his bag and then exited the store past the point of sale without paying. The loss prevention team followed the male, but he got on an electric bike towards Howe Avenue. The male was described as 30 years old, wearing a gray coat, black hoodie, tan/brown hat, black pants, black gloves, glasses and carrying a black backpack. The store will prosecute if located.
12-23 While present for another report police and loss prevention from a Howe Avenue department store observed a suspect place a white plastic bag in his slacks and exited the store past the point of sale. He was stopped by police and a pack of Fireball Alcoholic Beverages was discovered. The suspect was arrested and given a summons for theft. Total amount stolen was $52.29 dollars and all the products were returned.
12-23 During a traffic stop on Route 8 and Graham Road, police smelled the odor of burnt marijuana. The driver, under the age of 21, exited the vehicle and consented to a search of his person, which yielded no findings. A search of the vehicle uncovered 3.5 grams of marijuana, multiple active cell phones, a digital scale with residue, unused marijuana packaging bags, and a roller with residue. The driver was cited for underage possession and driving under suspension. A valid driver arrived to take the vehicle.
12-23 An importer of overseas hand tools and other discounted equipment contacted police to report that on December 23 an unknown male and female stole $1959.90 worth of merchandise from the store. The store does wish to prosecute. There are leads.
12-24 Police responded to a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue for the report of a shoplifter after loss prevention observed the suspect using improper price tags to steal multiple items of clothes totaling a value of $134.50. The suspect paid $18.00 of that amount due to the misuse of improper price tags, amounting to a theft of $116.50 of clothing. The store signed a summons on scene with police present, and the suspect was issued a court date and a trespass warning.
12-24 Police responded to a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street, reporting that an unknown female walked into the store, went behind the counter and grabbed 4 packs of Newport Cigarettes and left out of the south side doors. The female got into a black SUV and left westbound on Howe Avenue. She was wearing a black coat, maroon pants, white shoes, and black face cover. Total amount stolen was $42.53. The store is working on making a copy of the video evidence and is willing to prosecute.
12-24 A grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road reported an unknown male entered the store, gathered 5 items of consumables and attempted to leave without paying. The theft was thwarted and loss of $46.54 was prevented. No suspect was identified but there are leads. Prosecution is desired.
12-24 Loss prevention from a warehouse store on Buchholzer Boulevard is working with police after an employee of the store reported that an unknown group of people consisting of an adult and two juveniles had, over the last month, come into the store on three separate occasions and stole a total of $2,201.52 of medicine, food, and clothing items. Store personnel said they will prosecute. The dates of the incidents occurred on December 8, 21, and 23. The manner of theft in all the incidents was concealing the items on their persons and then exiting the store without payment. There are leads.
12-26 An automotive store in the 100 block of Graham Road reported to police an unknown male attempted to steal three battery charger/boosters valued at $519.97. The merchandise was retained by the store. There are leads but no known suspect. Prosecution is desired.
12-28 Police responded to the 2300 block of Richmond Road about a report of a dog at large. Upon arrival, officers located a large light-colored dog running between yards and roadways. Officers were able to corral the dog back to the property of the owner and confirm that in fact the dog was a good boy. Officers spoke to the owner and warned them for having a dog at large.
12-28 Officers found a female pushing a discount store shopping cart on Main Street/Huddleston Avenue. The female was stopped and identified; she stated she found the cart near another parking lot. The female said she was going to push the cart to her house. The cart was recovered, and the female was released on scene. Before she was released, officers made attempts to contact the discount store regarding the incident. No one working at the store was able to answer if they were missing any carts or would prosecute. Officers will follow up the following shift and speak with a loss prevention employee.
12-29 Police responded to a fast-food restaurant in the 400 block of Howe Avenue for an unwanted guest. The suspect was found to have active warrants. SCSO confirmed their warrant and during a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found with a glass meth pipe and later a plastic bag with a crystal substance inside. The suspect was given a summons for the paraphernalia and transferred over to the Summit County Sheriff. Charges for the crystal substance are pending BCI results. Some of the arrestee’s belongings were tagged into property as they would not be accepted by the Sheriff’s department.
12-30 Police responding to an alarm call at the high school discovered and identified a male in the wrestling room. The man reported to officers that he was homeless and knowingly trespassed into the premises to sleep overnight. The man was then taken into custody and processed at the Cuyahoga Falls Jail. He was released on a PR bond.
12-31 A State Road convenience store requested police after a known male, previously trespassed from the store, entered, made a soft drink, grabbed snacks, and left without paying for the items. Officers located the male and recovered the $9.50 worth of items. The store chose not to press charges but requested that the male be advised again of his trespass status. He was informed of the trespass and advised about a trespass warrant through CFPD.
