Shooting on Germaine Leaves One Man Dead

Approximately 4 pm on Saturday, August 5 Cuyahoga Falls Police were summoned to 2035 Germaine St. for the report of shots fired. Upon arrival at the single story triplex they found a 62-year-old man wounded at the rear of the property. Police immediately began lifesaving measures on the man to no avail and he died at the scene. One suspect, who was working on the neighboring property, was led away in handcuffs. According to neighbors at the scene, friends of the property owner at 2031 Germaine were assisting the homeowner install a privacy fence, during which a dispute over the location of the property line escalated and led to the shooting.

At 10 pm the other residents of the triplex were permitted to return to their homes. In a statement from the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, “All parties involved have been identified and there is no ongoing public safety concern. The Cuyahoga Falls Police detective bureau and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are on scene investigating the incident.” Records show that a building permit was granted on July 6, 2023 to the resident at 2031 Germaine St. More details as they become available.
